A stunning remake, an influential style & a 1920’s themed dinner…
A Great Gatsby themed Evening with the Retail Trust at Manchester’s Harvey Nichols
Baz Luhrmann’s highly anticipated remake of author F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ hit our screens last week, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the film focuses on the complicated love story of mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby & flapper Daisy Buchanan, as well as a whole host of young characters living in the prosperous town of West Egg in Long Island in the summer of 1922.
The 1920’s was known as the Roaring Twenties, a decade of glamour & elegance. Flowing champagne, feathers & flaunting flappers, the 1920’s introduced a fun & frivolous attitude set against a stylistic backdrop of Art Deco buildings & swinging Jazz music.
Unless you’ve been walking around with your eyes closed this past few weeks then you’ll have noticed the sudden resurgence of 1920’s style in our high street fashion stores, ‘get the Gatsby look’ tutorials in fashion magazines & Art Deco inspired gowns on the red carpet. The Telegraph even wrote a piece highlighting the 1920’s & Gatsby’s influence in this Spring’s interior designs.
Litecraft dedicated this influential style on Pinterest earlier in the month, pulling together Tiffany glass table lamps, prism cut crystal fittings & crystal decanter style pendants, we even celebrated the film’s release with a Gatsby inspired blog competition! Our Litecraft Tiffany Glass sales have gone through the roof together with our Litecraft Wineglass Chandeliers as consumers scramble for the on trend style of the season. Our Litecraft L’Amour Chandeliers have even been spotted at Liverpool’s Art Deco Inspired Sapphire Lounge!!
An Evening with Retail Trust at Harvey Nichols
Thursday 16th May was an important day not just for movie goers across the country but also in the retail calendar. Charity organisers Retail Trust together with Manchester’s Department store Harvey Nichols hosted a 1920’s themed fundraising dinner, the evening was attended by top names in retail & a great social gathering for the retail elite.
So when Harvey Nichols approached us to help with their 1920’s Gatsby themed dinner, we were more than willing to help. The brief was glamour, opulence & style, we believe our Tiffany Lamps optimise this 1920’s style. We’re loving the photographs we received!!
We’d like to give a big thank you to Claire & the whole team at Harvey Nichols & hope you had a great night…
