Crushing over copper at Titanic Spa’s Bar 1911 : As we get close to the hustle and bustle of the festive season, we need to remember that preparation is essential. We’re not talking about writing up the dreaded gift list. Saving our pennies or making sure there’s enough cutlery to feed those turkey devouring dinner guests. Mental and physical preparation is a must! Preparing your body, mind and soul ready for the seasonal activities will help you enjoy what is one of the happiest times of the year.
Spa retreats are a great way to unwind; it’s amazing what a few hours of relaxation can do. Whilst detoxing will cleanse the body and mind, there’s no harm in a little self indulging. So to capture the calm before the storm our Communications Manager Ashley headed off to Titanic Spa. Indulging in some R&R followed by a meal in the bistro, sampling cocktails in their new bar and swooning over the overall decor of this stunning establishment. Nestled in the picturesque West Yorkshire hills of Linthwaite in Huddersfield. Titanic Spa has been pampering, primping and preening their clients for the last 10 years, gaining a number of awards along the way. Housed in a converted textile mill, the spa boasts an eco-friendly ethos. The establishment sources local produce, has their very own natural water source found 100m below the mill and solar photo-voltaic roof panels, converting light into electricity.
Crushing over copper : Bar 1911
For this week’s city guide we’re focusing on the calming copper style of the new cocktail bar conversion. In July 2015 the spa completed an extension housing a new luxury cocktail bar. Bar 1911 was created to promote a more sociable area in the mill. A place to collect your thoughts after an afternoon of relaxation. So once you’ve floated back down from cloud 9 make your way to the new bar for a sneaky tipple or two. The bar name derives from the dare the textile mill was built. Make your way through the double doors and you’re immediately greeted with a seductive snug hidden behind a mass of white voile. A mountain of pastel grey and blush pink scatter cushions fill a wall lined seating area, ideal for a snuggle whilst sipping on your favourite spirit. The main bar area focuses on light and airy accents, enhanced more by the large floor to ceiling mill windows. A palette of muted white and pale grey walls makes way for an abundance of copper accessories and fittings. Two booth seating areas line the back wall, separated by a display of hanging glass terrariums and slender copper plated table lamps. The terrarium display plays on the spa’s ethos of green living. Furthermore reinforced by a vertical living garden wall, this impressive central feature is used to produce an array of botanical infused cocktails as well as keeping the air in the bar clean and healthy.
Copper features heavily in the establishment, a trendy nod to the industrial history of the building. A cluster of copper pendants illuminate the seating, bar and window areas. Together with exposed brick walls, a copper piped drinks display and copper trimmed quilted chairs, a warm ambience is created. Copper is a must have look for 2016 and showing no signs of slowing down for the New Year. You can easily transform a room with this warm metal tone; simply add a copper pendant fitting together with some copper ornaments. Litecraft’s Hammered Copper Pendant range is ideal for a quick interior update, choose either our stunning cluster fitting featuring 7 mini hammered copper shades or a simple 1 light pendant for an uncluttered and fresh statement. The hammered finish gives a rustic edge whilst also reflecting light around the room.
Through the main bar area you’ll find a decadent mirrored snug, an opulent hideaway filled with more wonder and ambience. Escape to this corner of the establishment for a more secluded sanctuary. This room has more of a rustic edge to it. A rough luxe tiled backdrop of brushed bronze and gold engulfs you as you walk in. Look up and you’re treated to a stunning arrangement of vintage filament bulbs entwined with striking black cables giving the space a subdued impression. Arched window style mirrors give the illusion of more space, as well as imitating the style of classic mill windows. A display of copper bottles, tea lights and dainty succulents complete the look.
Fancy the snug style in your home? Keep your walls muted, choosing soft greys and creams. If you’re feeling brave you could always wallpaper one wall as an accent wall. Go for a faux tiled print with rustic foiled edging. Choose more industrial style light fitting for this look, the rougher the better. Our 7 Light Vintage Cluster Ceiling Pendant showcases a brushed bronze finish. A rustic cage-like design together with vintage tear drop bulb casing and dainty G9 bulbs, this fitting will add a stripped back and repressed style to your interiors. If you’re looking for a less harsh design why not try the super trendy filament bulb look. These nostalgic little gems look great simply suspended from a braided cable. This style of lighting will add an arty and sophisticated look to your room whilst also giving a vintage feel. Finish off the look by scattering some of our stunning Bronze Sequin cushions.
