Marcel Wanders, Sky Garden Ceiling collection, 2007
Traditionalism mingles with contemporary design in this stunning collection introduced in 2007. On first glance the light appears just like any other ordinary domed pendant. A dome shaped shade in a glossy or matt finish. However, on closer inspection, look up into the dome and a traditional design of a plaster effect floral display moulded into the inside of the shade fitting is revealed. This truly is a magical piece that will fit perfectly in any home whether a traditional or contemporary setting. Wanders took inspiration from a previous home he lived in that had traditional moulded ceilings.
Marcel Wanders, Flos Can Can Suspension Ceiling Light
Another romance inducing fitting is Wanders Flos Can Can ceiling pendant. Again, Wanders introduces a seemingly simple bell drum pendant design that houses a striking diffuser display which is revealed when lit. The swirled detail diffuser is available in Transparent, Amber and striking Violet shade. More on the contemporary side this fitting would look great taking centre stage over an ultra modern dining table or breakfast bar.
Litecraft’s Mosaic lined ceiling pendant showcases a similar bell drum design with a striking inner gem that gives this pendant some va-va-voom when lit. It does exactly what it says on the tin, a stunning mosaic lined drum shade that sparkles and bounces light around the room.
