Behind the Brand : Claire Louise Home
Happy New Year! Have you been keeping to your new resolutions? We might be bragging a little but our team at Litecraft HQ have. One of our goals this year is to collaborate more with small businesses. As a result, we're excited to announce our first collaboration of the new year.
Claire Taylor, owner of new wallpaper brand Claire Louise Homes offers a range of beautiful hand drawn designed wallpapers, including bespoke services for a more personalised look. We just couldn't wait to get our products shot against her lovely backdrops, with our first shoot we choose the beautiful spring filled Oriental bloom, a mixture of Chinese mythological figures and oriental flowers in a fresh palette of pastels and soft grey tones. Check out the shoot below.
Just before Christmas we sat with Claire to find out a little more about herself and her new brand.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a very creative person and my love of drawing started at an early age. Growing up I would spend hours in fabric shops picking out prints that my Mum would then make into skirts. My Mum also loves home interiors and our home was like changing rooms. So my love of everything home and textiles began.
When i'm not with my friends, family and my son Ethan i'm happiest creating designs. I'm a proud Mum to my son Ethan who is eight and I have a three year old Chihuahua, who sits on my knee most days while i'm designing! My son is also creative and we enjoy drawing together and we are always dancing around enjoying music. Its a fun, creative home!
What got you into wallpapers and interiors?
I studied Surface Pattern at University and after that worked for two design studios. I decided to set up on my own company selling my designs to bedding, curtain and wallpaper manufacturers. This is someting I still do and love seeing my designs on different products
This year I set up another business which is my own brand of wallpaper, Claire Louise Home. To have my own designs and finally put my name to them is really a dream come true. The best bit is seeing the wallpaper up in peoples homes.
Which is your favourite print in your collection and why?
I find it hard to say which is my favourite print because I honestly love them all in a different way. I would have them all in my home. That was important to me to stay true to the designs I love and create something I would be happy with in my home. I enjoyed painting them all and this collection is inspired my love of oriental art and birds always play a part in my designs.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from everywhere. I love nature and the best inspiration is when I go for a walk and see the changes in seasons in the beautiful countryside i'm lucky to live near. I look at trends and I exhibit at Heimtextil in Germany every year so this is very inspirational. I also love to take inspiration from Art Deco period as you can see in my Deco crane wallpaper. I like to mix old with new.
What interiors trends do you see for Spring/Summer 2020?
I still see the tropical trend will be big for Spring/Summer 2020 also more florals will make an appearance. After geometric prints have been at the forefront of wallpaper for a while florals will be back! This makes me happy as I love painting florals. My next collection I launch will be floral led.
Have you got any exciting plans coming up in the New Year?
I have some exciting plans to sell my wallpaper in Lancashire wallpaper in Rochdale. This is a place I used to go in and look in awe at the high end wallpapers. Now I am lucky enough to be displaying my designs in there amongst some great designers. It will give my customers the chance to see the wallpaper and the quality of the paper and prints. You can also pick up samples. It's looking like 2020 will be a good year!
