Christmas Lighting Trends To Make Your Home Feel Festive

There aren't many who don't love decorating their home for Christmas, kitting out the mantle with the best garlands, stocking up on more baubles than are needed for the tree and hanging those twinkling icicles along the gutter. For most of us, there's nothing better than showing off your Christmas decorations for all the neighbours to see. Each year a new trend seems to emerge to help homeowners keep their Christmas fresh and up to date, whilst a lot of you love the traditional look there are a few who like to 'keep up with the Joneses' and bring some fresh Christmas style to the home. Christmas trend no. 1: Industrial

Rustic industrial homes are great for this time of year, and can be so easily styled to incorporate a 'Christmassy' feel. Scandi designs can be associated with both the industrial and Christmas scene too and it's what a lot of us would associate this time of year with. Just imagine a Scandinavian log home with stripped back walls and floors showing off the beauty of nature, it's how many would picture Christmas and this season. Natural and organic accessories such as wood garlands, handmade holly wreaths and obviously Christmas trees all work well within the industrial trend, there's something about industrial interiors, they give a warm and welcoming feel with warm textures and rustic metals such as bronze and copper. It's all about stripping back and exposing the natural design of pieces you have in the home. For instance, exposed bulbs can look great at Christmas as they give a twinkling feature like stars in a wintery night's sky. It seems you can't go anywhere this season without seeing stars! We're talking the pointy twinkling ones not the ones in the jungle. Browse through Instagram and Pinterest and you'll find image after image of beautiful interior shots and you can guarantee 99% of the images will feature some sort of star in the shot. Stars are great because they are so versatile, not only do they look super cute during the festive season but you can also get away with them displayed in your home all year round. Christmas trend no. 3: Traditional and vintage red

One colour that sums up Christmas for so many of us is the colour red. Think Santa's jacket and hat, Rudolph's nose, the leaves of a Poinsettia plant and the berries on a holly bush. Red is also such a warming colour which is a must during these colder months. And it's such an easy colour to inject and bring up to date in any interior trend. Whether you're a vintage lover or industrial is your thing, red can be easily mingled into any interior over the festive period. Just adding pops of the colour from a plant or a handmade holly wreath will set the scene. Christmas trend no. 5: Light filled bell jars and cloches

It's no surprise this style of lighting has made the list. There's something about these glass designs that create a warm and whimsical feeling. And just wait until they are lit! They add something a bit different to a setting and can be displayed together with other festive designs without looking out of place.
