Get the gothic chic look this Halloween!!

Warning, this look is not for the faint hearted, when it comes to Gothic Interiors it's all about dark moody tones, ornate detail & crushed velvets. Black doesn't have to be depressing and full on, choose a brighter palette for the walls and then add accents of black through the use of accessories. Mustard and yellow tones are ideal as a back drop to the Halloween look and perfect for this time of year, think Autumn leaves and orange pumpkin tones. Here's our latest pinboard for more Gothic inspiration.

Gothic Chic Lighting

The key is to introduce strong forms into the room such as an ornate black gloss mirror or rococo and damask style furniture. Victorian furniture features intricate detail including curved edges, elaborate shapes and quilted fabrics so try to incorporate this into the home whether it be a small wall mirror or a large side cabinet. When it comes to lighting, gothic chic is all about show-stopping pieces and over the top fittings so choose chandeliers and ceiling fittings that have the wow factor. Our Marie Therese collection is a mix of traditional and contemporary, featuring an elaborate array of swirling arms and crystal effect droplets, the range is available in contemporary black, plum and silver or for a more vintage feel choose the chrome or gold option. For our look book we chose our Black option which works perfectly for a gothic moody interior. Alternatively, for a more sultry interior choose our L'amour Range, each piece features a simple chrome chandelier enveloped with a stunning voile shade that conceals the fitting ever so slightly giving it a subtle touch of haunting glamour. Choose from either a soft grey finish or a striking black shade, ideally for a gothic look you would choose the black voile but grey can create a ghostly tone too. If black is a little too bold then choose more smoky grey fittings like our Gatsby 3 Light Cluster Pendant and complimenting Nivian Glass Table Lamp. Grey can lighten a gothic interior but its still apt for a ghostly Halloween theme. The intricate cut detail of the Gatsby glass pendants give off a vintage Victorian look, think old whisky glasses and vintage decanters. Hang faux cobwebs and spooky plastic spiders from your fittings to complete the Halloween look.

Candlesticks are a great addition to a gothic chic interior, whilst giving extra light and ambience they also cast spooky shadows across ceilings and walls. Choose long curving thin candelabras for a dramatic look or tie some old laced hosiery around a large candle for a gothic twist. Create a blood curdling candle with three small red candles sitting on top of a large white or black candle, wait for the red candles to melt leaving a trail of dripping blood. Perfect for a side table or mantle-piece, complete the look by scattering autumn leaves over surfaces and mini pumpkins as seasonal ornaments.
