Festive Interior Inspiration : Frosted Woodland
Well here we are, the sparklers and fireworks have fizzled away and flickered out. Leftover embers and ash are all that remains of the roaring bonfires. We're edging closer to that magical time of year when everything gets a little more exciting in the household. With a noticeable chill in the air and after an usually mild Halloween we thought a feature of frosty delights would best suit our 'be inspired' festive interior post this week.
If you're a fan of a minimalistic interior featuring lots of white and hints of natural wood then a festive frosted woodland interior will be right up your street. Think of Nordic inspired pieces, a snow covered Narnia and Scandinavian influences. The key to this look is to keep things simple with lots of plain furniture and then introduce frosted foliage and neutral wood accents to pull in the woodland vibe. Keep your room palette to a minimum, the colours you should focus on will be be neutral and airy such as whites, creams and silvers and then light or brown wood and green accents for the woodland element.
Keeping in mind that this interior is meant to be frosty and fresh, aim to use sparkly and shimmery accessories but avoid anything too glitzy and any crystal features. You want to keep this look understated and more natural. Go for more pearlised detail such as capiz and frosted glass detail which will give a more relaxed and less 'blingy' look. In this week's look book we chose our newest arrivals including our two new capiz fittings, Capiz Ball Easy to Fit Light Shade in Natural and Hanging Butterfly Vine Pendant Light in White, see yesterday's blog for more information. Capiz is a great organic material to give a shimmery effect without going over the top. The finish on a capiz shell is very pearlised and gives a soft glow when light is shined on the surface. Incorporating capiz into a frosted woodland interior balances both the frosted element and also the organic natural look.
If you're after a more full on natural feel keep to wood and natural finishes when it comes to choosing your accessories and lighting. We stock a range of wood, rattan, wicker and bamboo shades including several new arrivals. Our Skittle collection features a light wood Rattan finish as does our new Wood Dome Easy to Fit Ceiling Light Shade. For more contrast choose darker wood finishes such as our Honey 1 Light Wicker Wave Ceiling Pendant in Brown or our Mahogany Wood Effect Table Lamp.
A frosted woodland interior does exactly what it says, but don't let this interior become cold and unwelcoming. Bring some much needed warmth into the home by adding plenty of sort furnishings, just try to keep to the frosty colour spectrum of whites and creams. Our Micro Throw Range comes in an assortment of colours to suit a wide range of interiors. For a frosted woodland interior we suggest choosing the Ivory and Mocha options, these will add warmth whilst also keeping to the minimum colour palette. For the woodland aspect and to add depth and contrast for for the Chocolate option. Don't forget, a hint of animal print and animal motifs is a must for this interior look. Our Snow Leopard Cushion features a faux fur printed cover in beautiful soft brown and cream colours. Alternatively, our Mongolian Faux Fur Cushion Range is available in cream and chocolate. Don't forget our new Owl Cushions too!
To complete your frosted woodland interior get festive with some frosted foliage. Faux wreaths and garlands look great draped over your mantel or wrapped around a banister. Alternatively, twist some string lights around branches from your garden and create your own foliage light display. Our White Feather Boa String Lights will give the appearance of frosting when interwoven with some festive garland. Or simply gather together in a vase or ornamental bottle as a crafty little table lamp. Take the frosted woodland look outside with our Outdoor Apollo LED Star Solar Tree Fairy Lights. Featuring 50 super bright rubber stars, they give a bright glow after the sun sets. Dress up your outdoor window sills or front porch area to give a welcoming glow to visitors.
